IgY Antibody Production Services from SPF Chickens

AVS Bio produces custom polyclonal IgY antibodies using our own FAPP-housed SPF hens — the same flocks that supply biological materials to vaccine manufacturers worldwide. IgY antibodies are egg-yolk-derived immunoglobulins with several practical advantages over conventional mammalian antibody production.

Why IgY Antibodies?

• Avian phylogenetic distance: chickens recognize mammalian-conserved proteins as foreign, producing strong immune responses to antigens that are poorly immunogenic in rabbits or mice
• No mammalian Fc receptor binding: IgY antibodies do not bind mammalian Fc receptors or rheumatoid factors, reducing background in many assay formats
• High yield: a single hen produces 100–200 mg of IgY per egg, yielding grams of antibody per project
• Non-invasive harvest: antibodies are extracted from egg yolks — no terminal bleeding or repeated venipuncture

Standard IgY Program

Our standard IgY project is a three-bird, 100-egg, three-month program. You supply the antigen; AVS Bio handles immunization, egg collection, extraction, and delivery. Customization of inoculation protocols is available.

Extraction & Delivery

Antibodies are extracted via water dilution and pH shift, then concentrated, tested, and bottled to your specifications. Custom purification and volume options are available — contact us to discuss your project requirements.

Our SPF Flock Advantage

Our hens are maintained in FAPP (Filter Air Positive Pressure) facilities under strict biosecurity protocols. Hens in these conditions carry a naïve immune background, which produces faster, higher-titer responses compared to commercial layer flocks with prior environmental antigen exposure. The same biosecurity infrastructure supports our SPF egg supply — ensuring consistent, certified-clean biological materials throughout your project.
