Complement & Innate Immunity Research Antibodies

The complement system and innate immunity form an interconnected defense network that provides rapid, non-specific protection against all types of pathogens. Complement activation occurs through a proteolytic cascade that enhances opsonization, cell lysis, and inflammation, while innate immune cells and receptors coordinate pathogen recognition and elimination.

AVS Bio’s range supports research across all three activation pathways. The proteases Factor B and Factor D can be used as a rate-limiting enzymes in the alternative pathway. Antibodies against MBL-2 (mannose-binding lectin) and MASP-2 (MBL-associated serine protease 2) target the lectin pathway. Antibodies to C4b-binding protein (C4BP) allow for research on the classical and lectin pathways. Complement component C2 and the anaphylatoxin C5a (a potent pro-inflammatory chemoattractant), are components of the final signaling cascade.
