SPF Chickens

AVS Bio maintains multiple state-of-the-art, U.S.-based grow houses dedicated to production of SPF chickens for vaccine manufacturing, QC testing, and R&D. Birds range in age from one day to six weeks, with older birds available upon request. Flocks are tested to ensure they do not contain antibodies to a variety of common poultry pathogens, and AVS Bio provides a QC sheet with each shipment.

All chickens conform to USDA vs Memo 800.65.  Chickens older than 17 weeks are tested according to European Pharmacopoeia requirements.

*Due to developmental factors, we do not guarantee the sex of birds at 4 & 5 weeks of age.

General Information

Delivery: Chickens are delivered by independent third-party surface carriers. Please consult our representatives for quotes.

Feed: SPF birds are maintained on special diets, which can be purchased in 50 pound increments at $4.20 per pound.
