Human Influenza Virus Antigens, SPF Egg-Propagated Reference Materials
Human Influenza Virus Antigens, SPF Egg-Propagated Reference Materials
AVS Bio produces human influenza virus reference materials from SPF (Specific Pathogen Free) embryonated eggs — the same controlled substrate used in licensed influenza vaccine manufacturing. SPF egg propagation eliminates extraneous agent interference and provides a defined, reproducible biological substrate with an established regulatory track record and high titers.
Applications
Our egg-propagated influenza virus preparations are used as:
- Hemagglutination inhibition (HI) assay reference standards
- Vaccine potency testing and quality control references
- Immunological research reagents (antibody development, serology studies)
- Positive controls for diagnostic assays
Available Strains & Formats
We offer Type A (H1N1 and H3N2) and Type B influenza strains as allantoic fluid, sucrose-gradient purified, and purified-and-inactivated preparations. Purified preparations (2 mg/ml) are used for applications requiring concentrated, characterized antigen. Inactivated preparations are used where live virus is not suitable — including immunization and safety-testing applications, and for laboratories without BSL-2 containment. All currently available BSL-2 strains are tested for HA and EID50 titers. Store at or below -70 degrees C.
See our Influenza Virus Preparations guide for additional strain and antiserum sizing options and details on our sucrose-gradient purification process.
Custom Virus Preparations
We grow customer-supplied BSL-1 and BSL-2 viruses in our SPF embryonated eggs. We can expand your seed and final preparations can be delivered as crude bulk allantoic fluid, HA-solubilized, or sucrose-gradient purified. Contact us to discuss your virus, required scale, and preferred format.
Influenza A/PR/8/34 antiserum is available in our Avian Antisera section.
