Upar-(His)N, Human, Recombinant background This protein is a receptor for urokinase plasminogen activator. It is bound to the plasma membrane via a GPI anchor. However, a soluble protein is also produced in some cell types. It plays a role in localizing and promoting plasmin formation by binding both the proprotein and mature forms of urokinase plasminogen activator (U-PA) and permits the activation of the receptor-bound pro-enzyme by plasmin.
