Antibody against Trichinella spiralis. This parasitic nematode and the causative agent of trichinellosis (trichinosis), a zoonotic disease that affects a wide range of carnivorous and omnivorous mammals, including humans. Infection occurs through the consumption of raw or undercooked meat containing encysted larvae. After ingestion, larvae are released in the intestine, mature into adults, and produce newborn larvae that migrate via the bloodstream to striated muscle, where they encyst and can remain viable for years.
