Thrombomodulin-(TEV-His)N, Human, Recombinant
Thrombomodulin is an endothelial-specific type I membrane receptor that plays an essential role in maintaining the hemostatic balance. It binds thrombin, forming the thrombomodulin-thrombin complex. In the thrombomodulin-thrombin complex, thrombin loses its ability to convert fibrinogen into fibrin. However, it activates protein C, which degrades clotting factors Va and VIIIa and reduces the amount of thrombin generated. Mutations in the gene of thrombomodulin are a cause of thromboembolic disease, also known as inherited thrombophilia.
Production platform: This product has been produced in HEK293 cells using the rPEx® recombinant protein production platform.
