Antibody against Mannose-Binding Lectin 2 (MBL-2). MBL-2 is a liver-derived, pattern-recognition molecule of the collectin family that binds to carbohydrate motifs on microbial surfaces, initiating the lectin pathway of complement activation. It plays a critical role in innate immune defense by promoting opsonization and pathogen clearance. Genetic polymorphisms in the MBL2 gene can lead to variable serum levels and altered susceptibility to infections and autoimmune diseases.
