Human PAD4
Info
Human PAD4
Peptidylarginine deiminase 4 (PAD4) is an enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of arginine residues in proteins to citrulline, a process known as citrullination or deimination. This post-translational modification can alter protein structure, charge, and function, influencing processes such as gene regulation, chromatin remodeling, and immune responses. PAD4 has been linked to autoimmune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis and might be involved in neutrophil extracellular trap (NET) formation.
