Mouse anti-human ACTH (POMC)
Antibody against adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH). ACTH is a 39 amino acid peptide that corresponds to amino acids 138-176 in proopiomelanocortin (POMC), a 267 amino acid precursor protein that is proteolytically cleaved into several peptide hormones. ACTH is produced in the adenohypophysis and it exerts its effect by binding to a G-protein coupled receptor on the cell surface. It stimulates secretion of glucocorticoid steroid hormones from adrenal cortex cells.
