Leptospirosis (also known as Weil's disease, canicola fever, canefield fever, nanukayami fever, 7-day fever) is a bacterial zoonotic disease caused by spirochetes of the genus Leptospira. It affects humans and a wide range of animals, including mammals, birds, amphibians, and reptiles. Among the pathogenic species, Leptospira interrogans is the primary causative agent of severe infections in humans and domestic animals
