AVS Bio x ExpediteBio

Pitch your problem.Leave with a roadmap.

Bring us your hardest biologics problem. AVS Bio and ExpediteBio will give you a candid, no-obligation roadmap for how the partnership would tackle it.

  • We come back to you within five working days
  • Antibody discovery, developability and CMC in one conversation
  • No charge, no obligation, NDA first if you want one
Fifteen minutes. Both teams. No pitch deck.
60+ yearsof biologics development behind the AVS Bio platform
Antigen to phase 1discovery, developability and the route to the clinic in one team
One paragraphis enough to start, and it is read by a person, not an autoresponder

Why this exists

Most biologics programs do not stall for want of good science.

They stall in the gaps. A lead that aggregates above 50 mg/mL and cannot be formulated. A titer that will not move past 0.5 g/L at scale. A developability package that answers the questions you asked and none of the ones a regulator will ask.

Those gaps are hard to see from inside a program, and expensive to discover late. Pitch your Problem is a standing offer to look at yours with you, before either of us has anything to sell.

Why we do it for free. Because the fastest way to show two companies are worth working with is to be useful before anyone signs anything. Some of these conversations turn into projects. Most do not, and that is fine.

How it works

Three steps, and you start by writing one paragraph.

Step one

Write down the bottleneck

Use the form at the bottom of this page. One paragraph is enough to start. No calendar to wrestle with and no call booked before anyone has read anything.

Step two

We come back to you

Within five working days, with a question if we need one and a time for fifteen minutes with both teams. Scientists, not account managers. Thirty minutes if the problem needs it.

Step three

You get the roadmap in writing

Within five working days of the conversation: what we would do, in what order, where each partner fits, and where neither of us does. Yours to keep.

What you walk away with

Not a quote. Not a proposal. Our perspective on how we would solve your problem.

Yours to keep, and yours to act on with whoever you choose.

  • The sequence of work we would run, and the reasoning behind that order
  • Which decisions carry the real risk, and when you have to make them
  • Where AVS Bio fits, where ExpediteBio fits, and where you are better served elsewhere
  • An honest read on feasibility and on how long it would take
  • The questions we would want answered before committing to anything

What this looks like in practice

When science and the business case do not align

We have seen programs where a promising scientific concept was translated into a business case with timelines, budgets and development assumptions that were simply not realistic. The researcher believed the science was ready, the CEO had built expectations around a certain development path, and investors expected milestones that could not be delivered within the proposed time and budget.

The result: frustration on all sides.

We step in as an independent intermediary, translating the science into a realistic development plan and aligning researchers, management and investors on what is actually required. That produces a credible roadmap, realistic expectations, and a business case everyone can stand behind.

Is this you

Problems people bring us

  • Your lead aggregates and you cannot design it outDevelopability profiling says the molecule is a risk and the medicinal chemistry has run out of road
  • Titer will not move at scaleGrams per liter look fine in the shake flask and fall apart in the bioreactor
  • No CMC path to a phase 1 filingGood science, no in-house process development, and a regulatory package nobody has scoped
  • Work split across too many vendorsThree suppliers, three timelines, and no one owning the sequence between them
  • A licensing candidate you cannot vouch forThe data looks good and you need to know whether it is actually developable before you commit
  • Someone told you it is not feasibleAnd you want a second opinion from people with no stake in the first one

What makes a good problem to bring. Specific beats broad. A named molecule, a named bottleneck and a real deadline give us something to work with. Confidential material is welcome, and we will sign an NDA before you tell us anything.

Who you are talking to

Two companies, one answer.

Biologics development and antibody discovery for biopharma. Therapeutic antibody discovery, developability profiling, and protein and antibody manufacturing, with more than sixty years behind the platform.

avsbio.com

Integrated antibody development from early development to clinical readiness. ExpediteBio combines scientific and CMC strategy with hands-on development, scale-up and manufacturing integration to accelerate promising antibody therapeutics towards the clinic.

Between us, the path runs from an idea about a molecule to a candidate ready for the clinic. Pitch your Problem is the shortest way to find out which part of that path you are stuck on.

And the two people who lead these sessions

Ilse Roodink

Ilse Roodink, PhD

Chief Scientific OfficerAVS Bio

Leads antibody discovery and biologics development at AVS Bio, and has worked at the Oss site since 2013. Her research background is in platforms for finding antibodies against native tumor targets.

Debby Vermeer-Kruijsen

Debby Vermeer-Kruijsen, PhD

Co-founder and Chief Strategic Alliance OfficerExpediteBio

Works across early discovery, translational biology, cell line and process development, bringing developability and CMC thinking into antibody programs early enough to change the outcome.

Depending on the problem, one of them brings the specialist from their team who matches it. You will have both names before the call.

The terms

No obligation, and your data stays yours.

There is no charge, no follow-up sequence you cannot leave, and no obligation on either side. If your problem is not one we can help with, we will tell you that in the fifteen minutes rather than in a proposal three weeks later.

NDA first if you want one. Tick the box in the form and a mutual NDA goes out before you tell us anything. What you share is seen only by the two people on the call and is never used in any other client's work.

Questions people ask

Is this a sales call?

No. Two scientists will look at your problem and tell you what they would do. If that leads somewhere commercial, it will be because you raised it.

What do you do with my confidential information?

It is seen by the two people on the call and the person who writes up the roadmap. What you send through the form is stored in our contact system so we can respond, and it is not shared with either company's other clients or used in any other project. A mutual NDA is available before the conversation, and we would rather sign one than have you hold back.

What if I already work with a CRO?

Most people who bring us problems do. We are not asking you to move anything. If the answer is that your current partner should handle it, the roadmap will say so.

How quickly will you come back to me?

Within five working days, from a person rather than an autoresponder. Either with a time for the conversation, or with a question if we need one answered before we can be useful.

What if my problem needs longer than fifteen minutes?

Many do. Fifteen minutes is enough to frame the problem properly and agree the shape of an answer, and we will set up thirty if you tell us up front that it needs it.

Do I have to share confidential data?

No. Bring as much or as little as you are comfortable with. The more specific you are, the more specific we can be.

Who will I be speaking to?

Ilse Roodink, Chief Scientific Officer at AVS Bio, and Debby Vermeer-Kruijsen, co-founder of ExpediteBio, lead these sessions and bring the specialist who matches your problem. You will have all the names when we come back to you.

What does it cost?

Nothing.

Pitch your problem

Tell us the bottleneck.

This is the way in. Write down the bottleneck, and within five working days one of us comes back to you with a first read and a time for the conversation. Nothing is booked until you have heard from a person.

Bring us the problem you have stopped talking about.

One paragraph is enough. Fifteen minutes with both teams, and a written roadmap you keep whatever you decide to do next.

No obligation. No pitch deck. If it is not a fit, we will tell you that too. Would rather email? info@avsbio.com reaches the same two people.
